Logitech Setpoint Question

Hi,

I have a Logitech MX518 mouse which has two thumb buttons at the side (MOUSE4 and MOUSE5). These buttons by default enable me to go forward and back inside a folder structure or a web browser (this is exactly how I want the buttons to behave). In most of my games, I can assign the thumb buttons fine without any problems, however in some (like Just Cause 2) the thumb buttons won't assign.

I downloaded Logitech Setpoint 6.20 (x64) because there is an option to change what these thumb buttons do. By default they are set to generic (which is fine) but I wish to assign them a key so when I press them inside unsupported games (like Just Cause 2), they work. Unfortunately, when I do this, I lose the forward and back functionality. Is it possible to assign a profile so when Just Cause 2 (and other games) are open, Setpoint knows that the thumb buttons should not use the generic setting?

Currently I have to change the buttons manually and then revert them back which is an annoyance. I use a Logitech MX518 mouse.

KHAN TO THE RESCUE!

What you need to do is tell SetPoint that these are custom Generic buttons instead of leaving it as default. Now when in game the game will see the buttons as Mouse4/5 or whatever.

Setting them as Generic defaults them to the Windows standard buttons which are back/forward and are recognised universally by all apps to do exactly that function.

Here's mine on my Performance MX, exactly the same on my MX1000, MX Revolution.

you can actually do application specific actions on a lot of logitech mice...not sure if the MX518 is one of those

Hmm weird, try that* or install the latest version of setpoint, or install UberOptions as Logitech may have locked the options available to the 518 which UO will unlock.

I am running the latest version of Setpoint. I shall try UberOptions and see if that will help.

OK, I installed the latest version of Set Point (version 6.22) but when I run the latest version of UberOptions, it says this:

UberOptions website says the latest version is 4.80? Why for me it's 6.22?

EDIT: I will see if I can download 4.80 and see what happens...

Hmm yes perhaps UO hasn't been updated yet with 6.x. Acquire older version for your mouse!

The older version has custom profiles where the newer version for me didn't.... I got it working now. Now Just Cause 2 mouse 4 and 5 buttons work as I mapped the keyboard buttons to these via a profile. My web buttons work in windows as well!

Probably not much help, but just checked for my MX518 with setpoint 6.20.50 on 64-bit windows and I don't have the other > generic option either.

Yeah, UberOptions doesn't work on SetPoint 6.x The developer says he won't make it work until his mouse dies and he gets one with a SetPoint 6.x requirement.

Way to keep the masses happy!
