so my expensive ms air has packed up and I don't have a receipt, looking at the posts on here I thought I'd be safe, not so, they won't rma me and only offer a discount,

I am now thinking of bearing all my Logitech stuff as I don't think I have any of the receipts and completely switching to Microsoft.

is there any possibility of a successful outcome , they have all the other details they asked for

Will microsoft RMA you without a reciept?

I wouldn't have thought so, as it is standard practice to ensure that they give the warranty to the person who definitely bought it.

Instead of switching your main purchaser of peripherals entirely, you may want to consider just...keeping your receipts in future (or buying online and have an online order history).

No RMA and offering a discount is normally if theyre out of warranty, Unless you can proove otherwise. With no receipt they can only go by serial number which will give them manufacture date and they can only go with that. If however you bought it a fair amount of time after manufacture and the warranty is still valid then you will need to prove this.

Most online stores you can log into your accoutn and see purchase history and request another invoice.

Logitech wont RMA a MS device? ms air?

sorry should have read mx air..auto correct

I guess I'm just bitter as it is in warranty time frame, still, has put me off Logitech now, never had this problem with microsoft

Most manufactures require proof of purchase. I can't see how it can put you off Logitech, when you are at fault.

Good point, the MX Air mouse was released in 2007 - so if the OP doesn't have a receipt and the manufacture date on their system pops up as "2007-mid 2008" then it is most likely out of the 3 year warranty. Only with a receipt proving the date of purchase is still within the 3 years will show that it is still covered under warranty.

With this in mind, getting a discount off them is pretty nice - since they aren't required to give the OP anything.

Where did you buy it and how did you pay?

If you bought it online, then you or the company you bought it from might be able to access a past transactions list it's on. If you payed for it by card, some shops will accept a bank/cc statement with the payment on (assuming it's the right amount, it's harder if you bought a few things and it's a different amount payed) as proof of purchase, though that's not very common.

Looks like my last chance is if the receipt its in the box, if not that is that, I will be selling my no receipt for that either and I definitely won't be getting the z5500 speakers (out of spite lol) even though its my fault

Guess the logitech brand leave a bad taste with me, might as well either sell the mouse as faulty our see if there is a fix

I’m in the same boat, on my 3rd z5500 now and I paid cash last yr from a local shop but can’t find receipt and the system is turning off every 10 min :( gutted.. Logitech said its under warranty but they need proof of purchase.. Doh!

cannt you use a bank statement to show proof of purchase if you lost the receipt? wont help if you paid cash though.

Last time they did, They wanted a picture of the PID of the product or a picture of the reciept.

yeah last time m$ didn't need a receipt
no it was bought in a local shop for cash, I looked in the box, no luck, m$ make some nice peripherals anyway

after offering me the discount (I accepted) they have decided to offer me a warranty replacement.

I am surprised after only being offered the discount, but happy none the less :-)
