I recently got hold of an Logitech X56 for my lad, and am having an issue with it - got it from facebook, but looked fine, and in all honesty I dont think the seller realised it had a problem, and it was brought as seen (he showed me it working, I just didnt notice this one switch was on all the time).

In short, the problem is one of the toggle switches, TGL1, appears stuck in the down position (it is a switch that goes up/down and self centers to off when not in use), but only the signal, physically it works fine, and registers up but whilst still sending a down signal. So I thought, I'll just disconect the switch and run without it - but no, took apart, disconnected whole switch board, and its still sending a TGL1 down on signal even with all the switches disconnected.

This wouldnt be a problem if the profiles were good, but when I want to map keys/buttons, it sends this damn TGL 1 down signal and maps to it for everything.

So in short, anyone have any ideas how I can turn off the signal, or get the computer to ignore this one signal coming from the throttle switch?

thanks

Try a different usb port/hub, the x56 is renowned for having ghost inputs due to a lack of power, if that has no effect I'll try and open mine up over the weekend and have a look to see if there is anything obvious I can spot that might be a cause but I'd suspect it's either a usb power issue or something on the electronics side in the throttle is failing or shorted out due to the disconnected switches having no effect. It would be worth breaking out a multimeter and attempting to check the switch functionality that way too.

thanks for the reply - I have checked the switch and it seems ok, the telling thing is, that when the switch board is completely disconnected there is still a signal going through, not sure of the logic on this but the other 3 switches and the up on that one dont work when I did this, its almost as if there is a permenant signal being seen.

Tried a powered hub and other USBs, as well as other computers

Yes, that's why I think it'll be something in the electronics on the board rather than the switch itself, that said I can't remember what's inside off hand.
