Logitech Z-5400 THX®

Probably better off with 2.1 tbh. Logitech subs are often overpowering and won't let you turn them down as much as is required, in a small room it could get boomy and nasty. For 2.1, look no further than than Acoustic Energy Aego M. You might even be ok with 2.0, such as the Creative Gigaworks T20 to save some space. If you definately feel you need 5.1, then the Logitech set you suggested will do.

Cheers for the input, yea the bass whas what i was worried about, does the Z-5400 not let you turn down the bass that much then? and those 2.1 speakers look nice, i think i can borrow a 2.1 setup from someone to test n see what its like :p

Apparently with most the Logitech sets the bass with the sub on minimum is still twice as loud as it should be, a small room will exaggerate the effect (I haven't had personal experience with them though). The Aego's have 3 bass levels, hopefully one will be suitable; generally an excellent set anyhow :)

Sorry forgot to say i already got a stereo system and their ok speakers not cheap PC usual ones lol and they are good but they dont just give me what im looking for when playing games and tv/films and music could sound better :p

If the z5400 are anything like the z5500 then they are an amazing set of speakers for the price. My friend has the creative 5.1s and the bass is horrible but i'm sure its his soundcard causing it. Theres no reason why the set you have mentioned wont let you turn the bass down.

I find the opposite happens on mine, turn it right down and theres none unless you whack the volume right up, which you don't need to do as they're plenty loud enough @ 1/4 volume.

When I turn the sub to the max I'd say thats the minimum I want it at, its definitely there, but it doesn't seem to give as much as my old 2.1 set did.

I love my 5400s so im sure they will be fine in that size room. Just as long as you can positiont he surround speakers well enough. You can turn the sub right down as well, so theres no bass.

Ok wicked i read some views from ppl whos bought them and they sound wicked :D and yea they will be setup around my room in good positions well trial and error :D cant wait to get them now lolz :p

Fair play, mabye it was a specific set that had the overpowering bass. Really, the knob should allow from no sub up to the boomy sound some people like (our Cambridge Audio set downstairs do). Have fun with them :D

I have the logitech z-680 speakers, and I can turn the bass all the way down until theres no sound comming out of the sub at all.

yeah you can, problem is it does'nt take a lot of turning up before it overpowers the mid and high range.

Ok kool, just i was abit confused because my bro had a cheap 5.1 setup but the sub could go quite loud but it had its own volume controller and could turn it down very low, i was worried this set didnt have that option lol

Aye, for me playing music, putting the sub at a notch above zero gets me grief, had to fiddle with the EQ on the PC to get it down more. Am pretty sure having the general volume at 50% and the sub at 50% induces concussion. z-680 is in its element with DVDs :)

Got a set of the z-5400's not long ago myself and would highly reccomend them. Excellent performance for the price. And as for the queries on the bass, there's controls on the unit to turn down bass and on the remote.
