Rightyo.
I've got an old, but nice Kenwood 5.1 (KRV50-50D) surround amp (5x80w) with some Eltax Liberty 5 floorstanders, Jamo centre, homemade (but ok) sub, and some Aiwa rear fill speakers(the old main speakers from a decent 1 box). It sounds great but is a little large for my room - the floorstanders take up way too much space. I have this connected to my PC(with a creative 5.1 scard), my tv (soon to be replaced with a sony LCD), a phillips cd player, and my PS2.
I've been thinking about replacing it for some time with a smaller set of 5.1 stuff, but have been put off by the carp you see in the high street electrical retailers.
Now i see the special offer from ocuk on the logitech speakers, which seem from the reviews to be highly competent. Just how good are they really? has anyone actually sound-offed them against a decent surround set up like mine? Are the Creative Gigaworks G500 any better?
What soundcard would be necessary to exploit such speakers? I'd probably be looking to the ~£60ish creative X-Fi stuff.
I'm not interested in gaming as such, but wish my music reproduction and movie sound to be top quality. There was a day when all in one systems like these could never compete with even a mid range surround like mine, but I know that one-boxers and these setups are a lot better than they were..
How do these multimedia speakers stack up against the home cinema packages you see in "electronic" retailers?
