Hi all,

Well I have looked in to buying these speakers on a few different occasions but I have never had the money really. Now I do have the money and im pretty intrested. They would be used with my creative x-fi music edition and would be used for games, music and watching dvds.

Im aware that there have been a number of issues with these speakers and a few people have not been all that pleased with how theirs have turned out. So what I want to know really is have any of these issues been resolved?

If I buy these speakers on monday, what can I expect? Are they worth the money? Am I going to have trouble with them? Will I be impressed? etc etc

I would be greatful for any opinions on this, I am also open to other suggestions if the speakers are of similar spec (but seperates are a no go at the moment for me)

Cheers

Ps - excuse any spelling mistakes, ive been awake for about 3 days
:(

There has been a lot of issues with popping, i notice with my system that my subwoofer picks up overseas radio stations, pops when somthing is switched on etc.., but i think they have been sorted.

I have to say, i was not actually that impressed with my system, for me, the sub cant put out enough power, i am always making the cone start clicking noises due to me pushing it too hard, but i like lots and lots of bass sometimes, but even with normal bass, if you want to go loud with the volume, once past 16+ your bottoming out the sub, it's preety worrying tho, as you wouldent even notice untill you got right up to the sub, i dunno if i have a faulty unit tho.

Make sure you place the sub in a corner aswell, the bass wont be anywere near as good unless in a corner, well slightly facing away from the corner.

I think maybe take a look at creative's High-End pc speaker systems, or Klipsch, i think the Pro Media 5.1 proberbly would be a hell of allot better than the Z5500, but i cant say, never heard the Pro Medias, and there more expensive.

Have never "bottomed" out the sub or "pushed it too far" on my set? Sounds like yours is faulty tbh :/

They make my house shake, with crystal clear reproduction of the music on boost volumes. IMO they are amazing, and i know the hi fi nuts will come in and go "oooh but for 200quid you can get, an amp, and then some 200quid speakers" and spec you some mofo hifi seperates youll never fully use or appreciate. Yes, maybe a hi-fi setup is better, but to be fair, watching films/tv shows/playing games in 5.1 with the power behind the logis its quite breathtaking. Also the multi input, i'd be lost without that now. have my pc/ps2 (maybe a 360soon :x) and my mp3 player plugged into them, with a quick press can sqitch to whatever source i want :)

The popping, logitech accpeted a fault and started replacing units, didn't get mine replaced though (I've snapped the stand off one speaker...grah) and also using digital connection i found no popping to be had, popping only seems to be there with coax...

Only problem is, they are facking hooge. The sub is hard to place if you dont have a decent sized room. If its next to electrical stuff, youll get radio :D

One other problem, wall mounting is a dog. Simple as. I managed to get 3 stuck on the wall with difficulty, but all bashing and screwing the one in at an awkward position in the top corner of my room (stood on a chair, on my bed) it wouldnt have it and i got angry and started hammering the wall :/ Oh and i cant remmeber which speakers are rears or fronts, haha.

if you have any questions just ask mate :) But, simply, i'd reccomend them.

They are the usual reccomendation for a surround sound set at this budget. I don't think they have any bugs as such, you should be perfectly happy with :)

Cheers everyone, this is what I was hoping to hear, another invoice from overclockers will be coming my way tomorrow I think :p

you might be hearing from me when they arrive then ;) thanks

I sold my 5500s - got fed up with the pops every so often (they can actually make you jump out of your skin - I'm not kidding), and the bass was IMO very wooly.

I went back to my Z-560s, which IMO with their 8 inch driver sub sound far better, bass is tighter and goes just as low.

just my opinon,

Mark.

I would definately concur with that opinon.

I mean the 5500s are not bad, in fact they are great, but the 560s IMO sound a lot better, although you loose out on the centre speaker of course.

With the 5500s - even with the bass turned down a long way, and the subwoofer in "open space" - the bass always sounded quite a bit "behind" the rest of the music ...

560s do not have digital input.

I didn't find much difference without a centre speaker for gaming, but you would if you did a lot of movie watching with it (I use my Home Cinema system for that though :) )

I got the z5500s to replace my klispch promedia 2.1s and they are as good if not better than the klipsch to my ears. The sub is a little heavy on the stock setting but its easily adjustable to a point where it sounds balanced with the rest of the speakers.

How did you adjust it? what settings have you changed? whats your EQ set to?

usually a center speaker is best when gaming, in GTA SA if i turn my center speaker tottally down, i dont hear any car noise etc.. it all coming from center speaker.
