Hey guys,

long time no see and I'm back with another issue. Just want to start by saying I have searched the forum but I'm starting a new thread as the solutions haven't really helped at all. Basically I'm using the dreaded surround sound with Sound Blaster Z combo and I've had nothing but grief for the past two years and I'm hoping to finally resolve it. Basically all the speakers including sub work as intended but for some reason the centre one is refusing to work, or when it does it's erratic.

I don't expect the world from such a cheap setup but when it works it sounds amazing. Basically last week I noticed my centre speaker doesn't work and is coming through the front right. I googled solutions for hours and it turned out the black cable came out the back (yes the black shouldn't affect the centre, at least I believe) but when I plugged it back in it popped and everything sounded great again.

This morning I played some music but it has no vocals, seems the centre is dead again, and when testing in audio settings it plays through the right. I used the DDU tool to fresh install and now when I test the centre works fine, but it still won't play any audio from games, music, or videos and is basically a brick. It can't be the speaker at fault as it works fine via optical or TV but if I use optical it doesn't seem to have proper surround sound, anyone have any tips? My motherboard doesn't natively support surround but if it's not too expensive I will consider a new (different brand!!!) soundcard

thanks all
