Having trouble installing LMI for use as I dont have admin rights where I want it installed.

LMI Ignition (portable!) is running but if I enter user details it barfs with error 12007 "the server name or address could not be resolved". I suspect its all firewall/proxy related.

I can run IE but cannot install the LMI active X (admin needed). Is there a way to do a manual install?

Any ideas?

Most savvy empolyers will block this kind of access to their networks as it leaves them vulnerable to intrusion and hacks. Most likely they have blocked the IP/DNS entries for the LMI servers.

So, lack of admin rights combined with a firewall block? Forget it.

Even if you overcame the limit on admin rights it is very likely the firewall will still get you. What is more your employer will be logging intrusions and will be able to track down the computer trying to get through.

I suggest you tell us what you need LMI for and we can see if there is another way for you to accomplish it. My wife's employer has installed it so she can work from home. It is just about workable, but has all sorts of bugs and glitches so is a far from ideal solution.

Just tried it.. seems they locked that... even though its actually (didnt see this) licenced and loaded on the PC anyway.. Darn

So is this on a works PC? If so, why are you trying to install remote access applications when they've clearly been locked down by the network admins?
