Logon confusion

Hi when logging in from an xp client to a single domain i do the following:

xp logon screen:

username: jamie @freehand.local
password: *************
Domain : this is ghosted out.

but if i wish to loggon in this method :

username :jamie
password : *************
Domain : I only see netbios name here ? witch in my case is the name SERVER which i chose by the way.

Is this correct or should i see the fully qualified domain name here and not the netbios name.

Many thx Burnsy2023 think i need a less techy forum for my questions because i feel like a nanna putting forward questions like this here so i if any one knows of such a forum would be greatful

Just for your reference, I, like many people here, don't mind answering trivial questions as long as someone has made the effort to Google or use the forum search.

We all need to learn somehow.

I'm sure there's a way of changing it to display the full DNS name - possibly through powertoys... A quick google didnt show anything but I've definitely set it on XP before
