you've all been a great help. i promise you this is the last one.

i have no idea what caused this but for some reason my laptop cannot access my server let alone it's shared drives anymore. if i go to network i can see it but if i try to access it i get the error: "Logon failure: The user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer." i had it all working before and have not actually changed anything since. i have double checked all security settings and user groups. "Everyone" has all permissions yet i get this error. am i missing something?

Windows is trash for local credential management - it might simply be you need to remove existing credential/session data on the client (net use delete) and reboot.
