Hey,

Just installed the Intel INF Update on my GF's i945GM laptop, and now the XP welcome screen has been replaced with a Domain style logon (username/pass), and the Shutdown menu has changed also.

Does anyone know hot to get this back to the noob-friendly default?

Cheers,

in the control panel (not classic style), under user accounts there should be an option which says 'change the way users log on' or something along those lines. The option is in there. Can't remember exactly and can't check because i'm only on vista. hope that helps.

Hey,

Yeah I initially changed it there to get rid of the welcome screen, but now even with the logon option turned off there, I still get the "NT style" domain logon box  not sure why.

Hey C64,

That seems along the right lines but it's not the right fix I think. Basically on this screen:

If I check "Use Welcome Screen" then everything is in normal noob mode. But if I uncheck it (i.e. to force a single user auto logon and bypass the welcome screen) I am greeted with the NT logon box; which is annoying, lol. I'm pretty sure it's the Intel drivers which have screwed it, but not sure where/how.

OK, so you want a noob mode auto-login.

1) Check 'Use welcome screen' (using method you already know).
2) Open the 'Run' box (Start > Run), and enter 'control userpasswords2'.
3) Uncheck 'Users must enter a user name and password for this computer.'

Does that help?

C64 - the fix program just says gina.dll is ok (whether I have Welcome screen enabled or not).

Berserker - Will try that and report back!
