It appears that whatever Sony did to mitigate security issues in its most recent PlayStation 3 patch has enabled Infinity Ward to address its "unplayable" version of Modern Warfare 2. Creative strategist Robert Bowling announced on Twitter that a patch "will release on PlayStation 3 worldwide on March 8," with an Xbox 360 and PC release following at some point. The patch, Bowling said, is specifically intended "to address hacking."

Bowling detailed the process on the Infinty Ward forums, having updated his original post about the PS3 situation as new information was available from IW while staying intentionally light on details, "as we don't want to give out any information that could potentially hinder the security any further." He additionally noted that the patch "will also address a small geo exploit on the map Fuel, which players exploited in order to get inside a rock on the outskirts of the map." Apparently some players were ... rocking that exploit real hard.

Too little, too late ??

Not entirely true. MW2 still has a fairly large following. 30k regular on PC. 100k+ regular on Xbox, not sure about PS3. But I'd imagine it would lie somewhere between those two. A patch is hardly a bad thing. Yeah I agree it is hideously over-due but at least it is something. :)

Same. I bought it on the PC a few weeks back. Despite people saying it is FILLED with hacks on the pc. I can honestly say after 40 levels of it I have not witnessed one hacker. I have, however, seen quite a few on CoD4. I still love CoD4 though. :p

How is it bs? I haven't seen one hacker? However, on CoD4, dedi servers, I have seen a fair few.

IWNET is bs it didnt work as stated by IW for a few months after release.
After some patches here and there it fixed some lag issues and promised to allow a kick function but lied so still cant kick the cheaters.

Atlease IWNET is better than gameserver's server are on BO

Kick function would more than likely get abused (like on some CoD4 servers) and there ain't no need for one since I ain't seen any damn cheaters! :p
This is out of my personal witnessing of the game. I'm certainly not denying that there are hacks out there.

Also why is this posted in PC gaming when it's about PS3. I ain't trying to derail the thread here but I felt like talking about MW2 PC . :p

Just because you don't notice any it does not mean there aren't.
The unknowing is what spoils online play for me, the fact that you don't always know.

I clocked up a lot of hours on MW2 MP and encountered a great many hackers. I'm talking about the really obvious ones like 100% headshot aimbotters and blatent wallhackers. There would have been thousands of 'clever' hackers too (ones that run these programs but don't make it obvious so that they just look like intuitive, awesome players).

Even if they got rid of every hacker on MW2 you're still left with stupid features (akimbo, easy noob tubing, commando) and awful playtime experience (server migrations, bad connections and so on).

still play MW2 now, the gameplay is still brilliant, ok public matches are terrible and most of the matches i play are using clanbase rules but that does make it a better game.

blackops was a truely shocking mess.
thats why i have 386 hours on MW2 and 42 on blackops. :p
