So, walking back to the car park, the girlfriend and I stopped at the zebra crossing waiting to cross. A car (clearly doing quite a pace) slowed relatively quickly to stop for us to cross. We cross.

Here comes the weird bit. The woman driver of the car proceeds to shout "THANK YOU!" (rather sarcastically) and drive off at pace.

Now cool story obviously... But what sort of weirdo a) expects to be thanked at a zebra crossing, and b) who actually gets bothered enough/ has anger management issues bad enough to shout at a stranger for not thanking them...?

The world worries me sometimes.

Thought I'd update with some additional info on this to keep the thrilling ball rolling!

Car came from the right, I was standing closest to the car with a bag in my right hand and holding my g/f's hand in my left. So the only "free" hand we had anyway was my g/f's left hand, which was clearly never going to wave at her unless she did some weird spin around whilst crossing the road... So this just makes the mad cow who was driving even more ridiculous.

For anyone who is not familiar with Lakeside, these crossings connect two separate car parks, and have the large orange flashing beacons on either side, so are quite obvious.

It was my right of way to cross, it's law for the driver to stop. There's absolutely no need for me to thank someone for obeying the law.
