Sigh hey people, just built a new rig but i have power issues,im using a Xfx 790i Ultra Board, with an Armour LCS case and a 750W Corsair power supply. i think its due to the Front panel. i followed the motherboard instructions but theres no response when i press the power button, ive even tried the on board power and reset buttons and still no luck, i think its either the front panel, or i mounted the board and have exposing metal touching the case.. lol any help or suggestions. Thanks

When you turn the power on at the wall do any lights etc flash up on the motherboard?

Have you plugged in all the correct power cables?

Are you sure the PSU works?

Have you turned the little switch on the back of the PSU before turning on the machine? (some people do make this mistake)

Lol yeah i tried all of these and as there are no lights on the board its hard to tell, but the psu works fine and ive turned the switch on the back of the psu lol thanks anyway though

Got another psu that you could try on the motherboard?

Have you correctly fitted all jumpers and psu cables (gfx card 6 + 8 pins etc.) on the motherboard?

When you installed the motherboard did you seat it correctly? e.g. with rubber mounts/not metal-metal screws?

Put the bare minimum in needed to start a machine and see if there is enough juice to power something up.

i used the standard mounts which came with the board and they are the metal ones that screw into the case then the motherboard sits on top of it, one thing that may be the cause is the water block under my board since its metal it must be touching the case and shorting out the power. could that be the reason

but when you then screwed the motherboard into the mounts did you use the little pieces of hard rubber that is provided to avoid metal-metal contact between the actual flat head screws and the motherboard?

The water block could be a reason though most modern ones are non-conductive coated. Got a cpu fan you could try instead?

Just to confirm you have installed all power cables including the 4 or 8 pin for cpu power and power for graphics card.

the board doesnt use rubber screws, its just a standard motherboard mount which is metal and uses metal screws. i have them in my previous rig and that works fine. lol :p the only thing i can think of that is causing a porblem is the waterblock and as you said there usually non conductive, so i really dont know

And the gold mounts where placed in the chassis before you mounted the motherboard in presumably.

As stated, check all power connections...if at all possible, just have the bare minimum connected up, ie the motherboard / cpu / RAM, nout else, atleast you will know if your drawing too much power.

Tried a different power cable? Wall socket?

When you first plug the power into the system at the back, nothing at all happens? When you press the power button, does the system do anything? Not even make the fans 'twitch' ?

you didn't get a standard heatsink and fan with your cpu then? :) Might be worth a try.

I looked at something like this last week and on the particular pc, it was the front panel power switch cable (+/- polarity) plugged in the wrong way. I'm not saying it will be this but while it is pretty much fresh in my mind, it had the same symptoms, no lights or noise. Sorry if I'm sounding too trivial!

good news just checked a differnt power supply and it switched on so i guess something is up with my power supply, so ile just have to get a replacement :P so until then ile have to just sit here and wait :(

Where did you get it from? OcUK? I would jsut give them a ring / send a web note in the morning.

yeah i brought it from here, so you reccomend i just phone them or what

Well your going to need to RMA it probably, so give them a ring, see if you can get through.

Otherwise a web note might work.

Sadly it all takes time though, just explain the situation :)

Lol okay.... the Power supply isnt broken lol ¬_¬ iti just tested it by itself and it works, its only when i plug it into the board it self it doesnt work ¬_¬ but the other power supply i tried works lol wtf
