Have a guess how much Datsun wanted to help fix this little issue I was confronted with this morning...

Runflats.

They fixed it under warrenty and gave you back £50 for providing you with shoddy tyres that pick up screws?

This would have been the correct course of action. With biscuits whilst I wait.

Either its trendy.. or they wanted LOTS of monies and hes calling them datsun out of spite lol

Somebody got it.

i dont know why (possibly just the cars he owns) but ive got him down being nearer 40 than he is 20.

Thats a very kind way of putting it :D

back on topic I would say around £500 for a tyre.

Extra sausage for you...£500 for the tyre, not inc VAT, without fitting and sensor re-calibration.

They absolutely refused to even entertain fixing it. So I sorted it with somebody else and although I had stuck it to The Man, The Man got me back later in the day. I had to have a TPMS re-set, the service manager is away doing GT-R things and for 4 minutes of walking to each tyre with a bluetooth control unit and 2 bar of nitrogen, they thought £50 was a jolly fair price. Without VAT.

FIVE HUNDRED QUID? Crumbs that's outrageous

I was expecting something a bit pricey, it's a big piece of fairly sticky rubber, what ****** me off was the fitting and calibration charge. In retrospect, "Crumbs" would have been a better word to have used on the phone this morning though, poor girl.

License to print money.

Seeing as it seems Nissan have a monopoly on these tyres at the moment, agreed. They also had me over a barrel in regards to the TPMS, once the tyre hits a certain level, it's diagnosed as flat and that means "Visit Dealer!" on the dash, a seperate warning light in the cluster and this on the display:

I didn't think for a moment they'd try it on with the nitrogen either, Costco do it for pennies.

I waited for the keys and tracker card back and told them I'd pay by phone after Gary gets back.

how much did you find the tyre for elsewhere?

I had a look, couldn't find them.

It's getting more and more like a gaming console, they sell it for a loss and make a killing the extras :D

It's all been pretty good up until today and I'm just moaning really. They chucked in for the day at Silverstone, they honoured my original price before the hike, free bits 'n bobs, 12 month roadside cover, concierge service, free 1200 mile /12/24/36 month inspection and geo/tracking, transmission adjustments and software updates etc.

Just doesn't seem quite so "free" now.

Presume he just got it repaired.

Aye. a lot of nonsense about you can't repair runflats and "ooooh, there goes your insurance" bs. Had it hot vulcanized at Tulleys, balanced and fitted for £25. The feller wrapped the socket in tape so he wouldn't touch the wheel and it still looks brand spanking. It's also a load of **** that you need a special machine to remove the tyres from the alloys because of the knurled rim. The knurling is laughably small and probably doesn't do much unless you are accelerating hard with no air in the tyre.

Spooky, I had a nail in my tyre this morning too!

Unfortunately that's where the similarities end though.....

Not the best way to start a day. Even my crumpets tasted off.

But, bonus...I got to see the brakes and suspension! I turned the flash off and took caliper pics convertly as I didn't fancy.... "What are you doing?"..."Umm, pictures, for the ahhh.... internet"

Ok....im confused, I recognise the plate on the GTR and put it down to the GTR on here, Fett's!

Where have I seen that numberplate before then....hmm..

Didn't think my plate was floating around, Yu has the GOD2ILLA or something plate. He told me once that I didn't know the difference between Titanium and Grey. He later apologised when he realised I did and he didn't. A moment of awesomeness I replay often in my head.

So have you done a initial experiences/review post yet?

Not yet, it won't hold much weight anyway as owner-reviews are understandably biased so yeah, it'll be done but don't expect a Setright piece.

Usually better to read journos stuff, they play with a lot more toys and have no real vested interest. PH got theirs this week:

If you read the comments below, Stuart Forrest summed it up perfectly in his Post It.
