LOMAC - tips?

Just got this game and have played through all the UPT and A-10A training missions, found them all fairly straight forward. However, as soon as I jump into the A-10A campaign, I just can't do it

I'm finding the first mission really tough; there are countless AAA and SAM emplacements. I usually manage to get one or two kills on these with the Mavericks, just as I get into range, but I'm then invariably shot down by the SAMs or MiG-29s

Any tips?

Thanks for the tips all, I'll give them a go

As for giving wingmen commands, the backslash key doesn't do anything. I've checked that it's assigned to the right thing in the input options, but it just doesn't do anything

Is there something I'm doing wrong?
