Hi

Im travelling to london by train tomorrow. The station we are getting off on is London Euston.

Now I need to get to the docklands for the motorshow.

Does anyone know the quickest and easiest way to the docklands from the station. Im disabled so walking isnt an option.

Im thinking the underground / taxi or bus.

Thanks

Northern line to Bank, DLR to Custom House.

I don't know about any specific access concessions (e.g. for wheelchairs) though - The TfL site should have that info.

I would cab it anyway.

[Edit]

Ooh - piccy - yay internet \o/

Taxi would obviously be easiest, but will probably be about 30 quid.

Underground, well it will depend on whether your disability means you want to reduce the number of changes - Northern line (bank branch) to London Bridge then Jubilee line to Canary wharf is probably the most 'disabled friendly' route.

Underground isn't an option is walking is an issue as you would have to go Northern Line to Bank and both arn't nice for disabled people. If stairs arn't a problem.... Northern line to Bank and then DLR to Excel.

Taxi would be expensive.

Bus might take a while and a change but might be your best option. Euston bus station is just outside the train station and most buses are low step. Check out TFL for info on which buses.

Underground will be a nightmare if you're disabled. I'd probably bus it, most busses have disabled access now.

The walk from the northen line to DLR at bank isn't too bad - there aren't any stairs (iirc) and there are lifts.

The DLR is new enough to have been built with consideration for most disabilities that people might have - Even if they're french.

Taxi would probably take longer than the underground, but may be more bareable if expensive - the UG is very very hot at the moment and they have issued a health warning for people using it.

id be travelling at around 12 midday so hopefully it wouldnt be too full, id of missed the morning rush. Thats what im hoping anyway.

I would say the tube is your cheapest and easiest way to get to the docklands. As for the heat warnings??, just take a bottle of water and stand next to the windows...nice blast of cold air...albeit old and manky but seems to cool me down just fine.
DLR will be fine though as their carriages are air conditioned if im not mistaken..well when i get on them they seem nice and cool compared to the tubes.

Taking a cab will cost you an arm and leg especially so if its a black cab. If you can find yourself a mini cab, they tend to be cheaper.

This is a route I take regularly as I live local so listen carefully and you will get there no probs:

1. Arrive at Euston and go to the underground and take the NORTHERN LINE SOUTHBOUND (if memory serves me correct you want PLATFORM 6).
2. Get off at BANK STATION (takes about 10-15 mins) and as you get off look for signs for the DLR on the wall opposite you with arrows pointing towards the middle of the platform. Go down the stairs and at the bottom turn LEFT onto the DLR Platform.
3. Destinations from BANK DLR will normally be LEWISHAM (Don't Get These Ones) and KING GEORGE V (Jump On This One). You wont have to wait more than 10 mins usually before your train arrives.
4. After 7 stops (about 10-15 mins), get off at CANNING TOWN and STAY ON THE SAME PLATFORM for a train going towards BECKTON and get on it.
5. After 2 stops (about 3-5 mins) get off at CUSTOM HOUSE and welcome to the Excel Centre!, just walk up the stairs at the end of the platform and turn right :)

If you want you can contact me via email (in Trust) n should you want more details you can also take my mobby number in case you get lost.

**EDIT** Total travelling time about 45 mins depending on amount of time you have to wait on the platforms for the appropriate trains.

**EDIT2** There are disabled facilities (IE lifts etc at all DLR Stops) and the only stairs you would have to navigate are from the BANK platform down to the DLR platform. Apart from them the rest should be all escalators and lifts :)

The Northern Line is very deep - Meaning that it's not particularly hot.

It is, however, the Northern Line, so it is partiularly (in fact, spectacularly) crap.

A cab would take upwards of 60 mins at that time of day, a bus even longer.

You could canal it. There's the Regent Canal which goes your way.

In that case it won't be too bad. Any of the routes posted above would be good. :)

The underground is pretty damn hellish at the moment. I have to travel West Acton - St Paul's every day at the moment, and it's ridiculously hot on some of the trains.

They should ALWAYS have a health warning for the UG! :p

Take a bottle of water and make sure you take/have plenty of time... there is nothing worse then getting stressed out in the heat.

Enjoy!

I use the boat across the thames at canary wharf quite a lot, and for the past few days there has been a guy there asking if people are going to the Excel centre, so there is probably a boat to there, its quite nice going around london on a boat instead of the tube.

To get the the canary wharf pier and reduce the walking distance, go to canary wharf on the jubilee line (might be a bit far to walk to the pier from there) or you could go to the canada water stop and get the hilton bus to the hilton, which has its own pier with a small boat going across the water to the canary wharf pier. Both those stops are on the jubilee line, which has really good trains and stations our end.

Still not entirely sure about the trip to the excel centre, but they wouldnt have someone at the canary wharf pier with their shirt on, asking cheerily if people are goign there unless there was transportation would they.
