I'm supposed to be going to London at the weekend, the plan was originally to get the train, but this has fell through.

So car it is, how much will I have to pay for congestion charges? Is it per day?

We're staying in a hotel near to Tower Bridge if that helps.

Thanks

Careful - Tower Bridge runs along the cutoff point! If you're to the right of it (from the south) or to the west of it (from the north) you're safe!

But yeah its a bugger. And its getting bigger.

Doesn't really bother me though as I'm always working during its hours of operation and don't drive to work.

6.30pm to be more exact... and make sure you pay before 10pm otherwise it'll shoot up to £10... after midnight, you will be greeted by a £100 PCN.

I've just checked on the map, and it's just on the outside of the zone, I'll have to navigate around it.

you mean to the east of it! :p east doesnt change depending on which direction you come at it.

and tower bridge itself isnt in the charging zone. anything west is. :)

Has any one noticed a difference to congestion since the charge has been brought in? Just wondering if it actually works as a deterant or not.

Im making a trip to london at the weekend. Is there anywhere where you can park during the day for a reasonable price?

The hotel we're staying at is charging something like £10 for 24hours :o

It stops at 630pm and doesn't usually operate on Bank Holidays, and does not opperate over the weekend.

I've yet to pay it - I always miss it, drive around it, or go in it by bike. I *refuse* to pay for it, I pay enough to keep my vehicles on the road legally, I should not have to pay to drive in London.

As for parking there are a lot of resident parking areas, and most still are active from Mon-Sat till 630pm - they literally arrive at your car when there's less than a minute to go and then slap an 80 quid fine after taking pictures of your car and ticket. :/
