Hey all,

I'm planning a big group dinner for next weekend (late notice I know, but that's why I need help!) and would love some recommendations of good restaurants.

I'd like either Italian or British (think venison, grouse, duck) and not cheap but not super expensive either as the group will be a bit mixed in terms of spending power. Main courses maybe around £12-£20 (with a bit of room for big spenders at the upper end)?

Other criteria would be good ambience, unobtrusive service (won't be trying to kick us out fast) and good wine list.

I don't care where in London it is, as long as tube access is decent.

Thanks a lot for any advice :)

Little bit random and in party season you may struggle but The Narrow in Limehouse does awesome 'British' food and if you get the Captain's Table the ambience and service is brilliant, you get a dedicated wine pourer for the entire meal to keep everyone nicely topped up. Little bit out of the way (and when I went admittedly I lived opposite) but my friends have done it since and have had a brilliant time.
