Lone Echo 2 Delayed

No surprise about the delay, it's pretty normal these days.

Hope it isn't as mind numbingly boring as the first one. As an interactive story it is was good, if you are into that. As a game it was, well, it wasn't a game. I hope they are taking the time to take the movement mechanics, amazing tools and replaceable body to do more than just cut here and replace battery.

It can be a bit marmite, but I loved it due to the story, characters, atmosphere and sense of immersion. It's got of the best IK representations of your arms and hands in VR there is, which really sells the illusion that you're there.

Judging by the footage released of the game at one of the Oculus conferences and E3, the gameplay is more involved, and there's also some combat.

You're right about the Metro games, especially as there's a lot of secret stuff in there that depends on you taking things slow and paying attention to your environment, which is what players tend to do in VR, compared to normal first person games. (The HL Alyx developers talked about that) The communal areas are really dense with detail and it'd be great to explore those in VR.

There are a lot of other games which would really translate well to VR, if only they were given a conversion, and of course there are games like RE7 which had a release on PSVR but which have never been converted to other platforms.

Even isometric games, like The Ascent would benefit from the sense of depth that VR brings.
 
Love the sound of the Metro series in vr!! Would love to be immersed in that kind of world, and the horror elements in those would be especially effective

Tried Artika.1? An Oculus PC exclusive developed by the same team that did the Metro games, and it's very similar to Metro in feel, but It's more limited in scope, and has the horror vibe you describe. The only real issue is it's designed around teleport - you jump to locations around the level and have to use cover to protect yourself. It's basically like one of those lightgun cover shooters, except you decide where to move to rather than getting moved to the next location automatically.


Because there's no stick movement it actually makes the shooting more immersive, since you can't strafe so you have to use proper ducking and dodging movements behind cover to avoid getting hit.
