It gives me great pleasure to finally announce that LONE SURVIVOR will be debuting on PC & Mac on Tuesday, 27.3.2012 (that’s 3.27.2012 in American or 2012.3.27 in Japanese.)

Without sounding nasty, This looks poor a lot of indie games are a million miles better than this and most are free...

Indies being Doukutsu Monogatari, Markus Persson, Terry Cavanagh etc etc who all make games which are "a million miles better" than most of the AAA pony poo covered releases (In my opinion).

As already mentioned, the game is designed as a "throwback".

I am guessing you are but a youngster.

For us oldies, the current generation of games are seriously lacking in many areas. Sure, most conatain the pony **** covered in glitter to make it look pretty but lack the "Must keep playing" aura which the 1st/2nd/3rd generation games had. Games have now become "Popular culture" and as such, the "consumers" just consume whatever they are told is the "next best thing".

Gaming has an amazing heritage which should never be forgotten and the problem nowadays is we are seeing a lot of the young developers coming through in the "next generation" who would not know gaming heritage or gameplay mechanics if it walked up to them and smashed them around the face with a stinky kipper.

So, these "throwbacks" purposely strip a game back to its basics and leave it naked for all to see and you can then see what you are playing. You do that with a lot of the games of today and you will struggle to find a skeleton, nevermind a soul.

+1

Creepy atmosphere, very silent hill like. Higher resolution graphics would be nice, but still looks good imo. Soundtrack is nice as well.

Personally I'd rather they used better graphics, and before someone jumps down my throat saying I must be a young gamer, I've been at this since moving asterisks where awesome ;)

I'm not talking high end graphics, just I see no real reason to use ulra low rez graphics these days. There are enough old games with those already, many of which people spend a lot of time trying to graphically improve on. I'd rather play dungeon master HD than dungeon master, yes the graphics are simple but its much more visually appealing (to me).

I don't completely disagree with you. For instance, rather than fire up my old SNES I much prefer to use one of those things we aren't meant to discuss here and stick on all the graphics filters and such. I haven't played the demo of this yet but the video seemed to show quite reasonable graphics for a game of this style. It very much made me think "snes with benefits".

Has anyone had a look at this yet? Just saw it pop up on Steam and it looks pretty interesting. :)

£5.59 on Steam with 20% off, £6.99 usually.

There's a demo available on Kongregate as well.
