Long beeping or screaming under high cpu usage

I am hearing a screaming sound or a long beeping sound quite annoying when my cpu hits high usage thought it was hard drive, but got a new one and don't think it is that. Has anyone had any sort of problem like that?
 
What are the temps of your cpu, and system.

It might be the speaker warning of high temps.
 
just started beeping now seems to beep when there is heavy graphical load such as in games but I havent got a graphics card, so is the internal video making the noise?
 
It could be your graphics card is not gettin enough juice, but you need to identify if its your grahics card making the noise, or the BIOS warning beeper, or something else.

Is the noise from your stereo speakers or from within the PC?

For quickness, use coretemp or CPU-z for your cpu and GPU-z for your graphics temps.

Anything above 90c needs to be looked at.
 
ah well I think I found whats the problem, well my idle temperature is 50 degrees celsius, I am using the stock cooler on an amd II x3 for an unlocked phenom II x4 even without overclocking well the alarm was set for 60 degrees, so it seemed to have been the motherboad. I have set it for 70 degrees now, would anyone the max temperature on an amd athlon II x3, gonna have to invest in a new cooler.
 
I think your pretty much on limit for that cpu, I am looking around AMD to find some details.
 
Im not familliar with those chips, but a 60c CPU alarm sounds conservative, just sounds like your settings were a bit iffy by default.

I think you have found the issue, you just need to identify a safe MAX temp for that chip and set the alarm accordingly. If you still find you are hitting the safe max temp then you need to look at re-seating the cooler with better paste or possibly getting a better cooler.

As a rule of thumb, stock coolers should not be used with 'more powerfull' CPU's than they were dessigned for, they tend to get a bit warm!

I said I was going to pruchase a new cooler but never got round to it, artic cooler for me
