Im not familliar with those chips, but a 60c CPU alarm sounds conservative, just sounds like your settings were a bit iffy by default.
I think you have found the issue, you just need to identify a safe MAX temp for that chip and set the alarm accordingly. If you still find you are hitting the safe max temp then you need to look at re-seating the cooler with better paste or possibly getting a better cooler.
As a rule of thumb, stock coolers should not be used with 'more powerfull' CPU's than they were dessigned for, they tend to get a bit warm!
