Finally, I have a full bike licence! (excuse the spelling if it's wrong - never looks right to me)

So, I need to go shopping - I have little to no preference as to a style of bike though a sports bike would probably be out as the missus doesn't want to sit up high.

What I'm looking for is somewhere I can go this week and drool... Any decent places around Leicester/Nottingham? The bigger the better really as I want as much choice as possible.

great stuff guys - some names are familiar. I have no restrictions on which bike I ride so anything goes (in theory).

I currently ride a varadero 125 so the style of the BMW is familiar. Comfortable I think is the word. However, I took the test on a new XJ6N (in fact I rode it for 100 of its 106 miles on the clock) and found it surprisingly comfy too but not in the same way. I suppose the only way to find out is through very thorough testing

Thanks for the advice guys, looks like I'll be testing some this weekend. I like the look of the er6f, my local shop had one in bright orange and it looked the mutts. I also saw a triumph sprint st 1050 which although was a bigger (it had full luggage on at the time) looked good... seems to have been sold since though~!

I'll have a look around in Notts as I'm that way on saturday morning anyways and leicester will be in the afternoon me thinks. I'll keep the thread updated and will post in the new bikes thread in the near future *fingers crossed*

quick update- I took a trip to CMC in nottingham and thought the selection isn't huge I did like the look of the new xj6f but a bit out of my price range. Not exactly a massive tourer but I suppose it's near enough what I'm used to now with the xj6n I rode for the test.

Also stopped at beechdale bikes, they had a gsxf750 I wanted to look at but wasn't my taste really.

Looks like my dad is going to sell me his bike as a stop gap as he needs to get rid and I can't decide, so I'll post pics as and when
