Long boot up time

I got a old Toshiba Satellite Pro that takes 15-20 minutes to boot up. I ruled out the HDD as I changed it and installed a fresh OS on a new drive and it's still taking a long time to boot up, plus with a battery not being charged.

On top of that, since the battery is always flat, the bios is always default and any changes to it and the clock are forgotten about soon as I remove the power cable.

With the old HDD, I was getting I/O errors every time I tired to install a fresh OS on it, so am suspecting the HDD was at fault plus the connections to the motherboard.

Could the RAM cause any problems like this?

Once it's running and you are inside Windows 10, the Laptop works fine as can be, no problems there! Just starting it up and the battery issue is the problem.

It's a old Laptop and it seems I can get a replacement of the same specs or abouts for about £80, so doesn't seem much point in taking it to a repair shop who would charge me as much.

What am asking is does anyone have any experience with these problems and anyways to fix it?
