Hi,
I'm after a new PSU for my system. My old PSU isn't quite up to what I plan for it. And I've noticed that it's cables can't reach the placement of all the power connectors on the Abit IP-35 mobo I'm installing in my case (Lian-Li V2000). That lack of reach has led me to upgrade a little sooner than I was planning.

As I survey the range of quality PSUs out there in the 700-900W range a few questions come to mind. Hopefully, some of you guys can fill in some of the blanks and any additional background:

1. Modular PSUs seem attractive. Is it possible to buy extra long cables modules?
2. When dealing with quality PSUs is modular cabling as attractive as it appears? ie, do quality PSUs like the PP&C 750W (I like this) have enough cabling options to meet anyone's needs? And are those cables long enough for a V2000 style case?
3. Do some PSUs have longer cables than others? Or will I be forced to add cable extensions?

Given these points and the general guidelines given above is there a PSU best suited to my case, mobo and power/quality requirements?

Thx

Seems like a powerfull PSU your looking at, whats your spec?

1.dunno
2.usually, yes
3.probably, maybe.

I wouldnt choose a PSU based on its cables, i would simply look for the following traits:

A: are its power specs suitable
B: modular is preferable but not essential
C: does it conform to the latest ATX standards, and what ATX standard is the case, will it fit?

In reality, its just the motherboard cables that may be to short, and you can buy extension cables.

The points you make are well taken and already factored into my purchasing decision. Am just considering "other" factors while I can.

I'd like to avoid extending cables unless I definitely have to.

Thx

Well, I know corsair, for example, have a support forum where you would be able to get an answer, maybe other suppliers do....other than that you just have to make some phone calls to the individual suppliers tech support, unless you find someone whos got the same psu on a forum or somthing...
