Long hours and their effects

I do 50hrs a week bare minimum and usually 65+ I also do 24/7hr callout 1 week per month for my firm. Never had spazy fingers, even when working nights fitting fire alarms in librarys. Can get a bit knackered though come Sunday afternoon...

Did a few long pizza delivery shifts years ago, starting at 11am, finishing around midnight. Constant driving when you're tired really gets to you, silly mistakes or random indecision gets irritating. Needed the money though!

Dreams are so much better after sleep deprivation, I think your brain catches up on all the dreams lost and makes them even more vivid. A quick search brought up this.

I remember working in the hospitality sector years ago and have to say working long hours affects were horrendous. Even finishing work, your still so hyped up you can't get to sleep. Especially during Christmas period you'd be doing 15 hours straight for 5-6 days. You would be lucky to get a days rest in between and then back for more. Even on that day off, your so tired you just stay at home and mope, and then to top it off you will still find it hard to get to sleep at decent hours.

working long hours and not getting enough sleep means that I become an irritable git at work and at home (some of my colleagues might claim that this is also the case when I'm fully rested....). I also find that my memory when stressed doesn't work that well...

YES! The white smoke! I thought it was just me. It sort of pours quickly upwards off of the surfaces of things. At first I thought my monitor was on fire until I noticed it was coming off the sofa too.

haha, yeah. I always thought it was kind of neat. Would also mess with your head when looking at an unlit cigarette.

I must say, I sometimes miss those days, but I wouldn't want to go back to them.
