Long overdue upgrade

Morning all :)

I've decided it's GPU upgrade time as I've been living with my exceedingly old GTX 280 for too long!

I've got around a £100 to £150 budget to work with which seems to suggest either a GTX 660 of R9 270x. On paper they look fairly similar so what would people recommend and are there any advantages to Nvidia over AMD?

Sorry if there are any similar threads I could've got the answer from, I had a quick scan but couldn't find anything.

Cheers

The 270x would be better than the GTX660.

If buying new, then it would be 270/270x depending how much you want to pay; if you would consider 2nd hand, then you can may be grab a GTX670 for under £150, or 7850 2GB for around £70 or 7870 2GB (which is essentially a 270x) for around £90~£100.

I sold my 7850 for $90 australian plus 15 bucks shipping.

Save a few more bucks and go one tier up mate.

Thanks for the opinions guys, the last couple of GPUs I've got have been second hand so I fancy a new one this time (shiny, shiny :D), so it looks like I'll go for the 270X. The Powercolour Devil looks nice and comes with free games (all be it for £8 more than the competition!) so I'm edging towards that I think.

I've just ordered that card myself. Best pound for pound 270X at the moment and OcUk looking after the warranty makes it a no-brainer.
