Long Power Cable

I need a kettle power cable that is about 10m long for a new LCD TV I am going to be wall mounting, can I just cut the standard 1m one that came with it and extend it with normal mains power cable?

Yes, but try and join it using proper connecters. I myself would just use a cheap extension cable.
