Hi,

I have around 100+ large satellite images that I need to mask up in Photoshop so i can overlay things like trees, cities etc that are of higher res.

Now it takes ages to do this by hand and I have been looking for ways to try and automate this or at lease speed things up. I have got the demo of Fluid Mask and this is a good start as masking the image up is a lot quicker with this software but i am wondering if I can get it even quicker or even a way to automatically mask stuff.

I have also been looking at software that takes raster images and turns them into vector images/file. Now this is kind of working I have managed with one bit of software to create a black and white vector image that I can use as a mask but that covers the whole image so it still needs work to cut it up for use on trees, cities etc.

So is there a vector program out there that will either vector by colour or allow me to choose which bits of an image to vector?

You can vector by colour in PS if you use select, colour range, and then convert your selection to a path.

Illustrator has live trace, which is its inbuilt raster -> vector tool.
