Long shot - Help me fix AOE 3 error

Ive googled this to no avail. Have tried completely uninstalling then reinstalling with various patches and not patching at all, still have the problem.

I'm trying to make a custom scenario with AI, I pick an AI and then everytime I play it, Get this message:

As I say, its a long shot but maybe someone has the answer?

One of the guys seems to think that there are some bugs in aimain or something. I can't find much else on the web about it. Can't say i ever ran into this problem either.
