Well, it's been a couple years having this Asus 5770 CuCore, and it has served me well... but I've noticed for at least the past year, regardless of which driver release I'm using, I may come across some artefacts in particular games.
It all started in 2010/early2011 when once updating drivers would cause some strange angled lines or chequerboard texture patterns in Bad Company 2. Now after some further driver updates (and playing the game less frequently) it seems to be okay. It would probably have a 10% chance of occurring when it did happen.
Now that I play Battlefield 3, I'm getting either those same chequerboard-ish problems (just earlier it happened whilst I was in a tank, still able to drive around with an effective vision of a mere half of the screen in chequerboard format). Other times the game will just halt and I would have to force close it in task manager. About a similar chance of that happening as it did in BC2.
I play both games at the lowest settings at 1080p by choice.
Are the newer drivers just not much good for the 5770? Should I roll back to the last Catalyst drivers with a 5770 update? Is this possible a hardware issue? Last Friday I just cleaned out my PC and it is now dustless. I feel this is software related as it happens in NO other games.
Help OcUK, and give your experience based advice. Thanks
