Hey apple folks! I've been using android based phones since they first took over from the S60 era phones, but after some bad experiences I'm putting some proper thought into picking up the 6S+ (or whatever they decide to call it).

I've got a whole host of questions though, just about general usability style things, so if anyone can answer any/some of them that would be great!

  1. When using a chromecast, can you cast the screen of the iPhone directly onto the TV?
  2. Also for chromecasts, how well does the iPhone youtube app work with controlling/adding media to be played?
  3. It seems like Google Keep isn't available on the iPhone. Is this the case, or is it hiding somewhere?
  4. What's the quality of the Microsoft Office apps like on iOS? On Android there's now a release from Microsoft which is pretty damn impressive, it handles complex formatting well, and generally just works. It seems like the same apps are available on iOS, but do they actually do the job?
  5. What's the general consensus on Reddit apps? Is AlienBlue still the go to?
  6. When using Chrome as your browser, how well does the bookmark syncing work with the desktop app? This is pretty seamless on Android, and something I rely on quite heavily.
  7. Same with google calendar and GMail, how's the quality of the apps?
  8. Is there a way to set "do not disturb" hours to silence the phone between speicfic hours? Can these be tailored for specific days? And can it be tailored to allow specific events/contacts to ignore the rule and still ring?
  9. During a voice call that's on speaker phone/headphones, is it possible to still use the phone for browsing/apps/etc?

Sorry for the bombardment of questions. Just trying to see if the little quality of use things are covered before I dive in! :)

1. No, unfortunately not... unless there's some hack available to get it working via Airplay
2. it's pretty decent. Video is cast to screen, phone retains remote controls for video and can add to current playlist I think (not tried it fully). Visitors recently used the hell out of mine for this.
3. No, not available. Evernote or OneNote would be a better cross-platform solution in the long term... I use Evernote on everything (iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Chromebook).
4. As near as can be to the Android versions from what I remember of them. I don't use them much, but I've hacked around with a few Word docs and the app does the job for my requirements.
5. pass on that one... not a Reddit user really
6. Yep, works spot on.
7. I use GMail and Inbox by Google for email. Main account is in Inbox and it's perfect, when combined with Unroll.me... Obviously the Android clients are the big cheese, but the iOS versions are spot on really, considering they're running with the "enemy" so to speak! For calendar, I use Sunrise... Google Calendar client is fine, but I find Sunrise allows me to clump a load of calendars together and let it manage the grief for me, rather than hacking around with different calenders through iOS settings.
8. Yes, my DND is set between 10pm and 6am, with interruptions allowed from starred contacts. I've not gone beyond that, as it suits my requirements, so others may have further feedback here.
9. Yes, jab the home button and use the phone as normal, it just works.

Hope that helps a little... anyone else, feel free to chuck more info at DAnDan!
