Hi OCUK community,
Long time lurker here.
Thought I will use this post to introduce myself and start contribute my 2 pennies in this community.
I have been a long time PC enthusiast, with using and playing, before finally moving to build my own first PC back in the early 2000. It was a Pentium 4 on a massive ATX motherboard, with a paltry 1GB ram. That serves me well through out Uni.
After uni and into a working life, I moved to the dark side to Apple MacBook Pro 15 and that particular laptop served me for 10 years. As I rediscovered PC gaming, the MacBook Pro was not adequate for that, even with Bootcamp. Playing Skyrim with the Intel Core2Duo CPU running at 90C was a bad idea (it kept me warm in winter though)
As I looked for a Windows solution, I stumbled upon Gigabyte's Brix Pro, which has a top of the line Intel Integrated GPU at the time - the Iris Pro that came with Haswell CPU i7-4770R. It allowed me to play Bioshock Infinite at medium settings at 30fps. While it was not great, it was a start. The Brix Pro was forced to retire with a failed CPU fan. Unable to source a replacement fan, I was forced to look for a replacement.
I arrived at the Razer Blade Stealth 12.5" with Razer Core and GTX 1060 SC 6GB. While it was incredibly portable, the dual core i7 significantly hindered its gaming capability. While the Razer Core allows me to play at playable framerate, the visual experience just wasn't there.
As I move into content creation, photo and video editing, the Razer Blade Stealth is hitting the performance ceiling. This brings me to the present day. I have built my most recent PC in Nov 2020 - the Black Armoury. While I can re-use the GTX 1060 SC 6GB in this build, everything else was new. I had a strict budget of £750, with help from a friend I was able to complete the build with a few pennies spare.

So this is my journey. See you around.
