Longer screws

I need some longer case screws, about 10mm.
It's the normal screw thread, but they don't seem to be M3, M4 or M5.
Do they have special name?

They’re usually #6-32 UNC. Blame the Americans.

They'll only fit if you're willing to butcher the threads.

I tried some screws from a light switch this afternoon as they are supposed to be M3.5 and didn't fit
