longest break you've taken from gaming?

I think around 3 1/2 months. It was a couple of years ago when I stopped playing consoles and was saving for a gaming PC.

Erm, 2 1/2 weeks when I was on holiday! Oddly a free bar and lots of Snorkelling and sports stopped me really missing shooting people in games :D

Usually just few months, but i find that as the years pass those few month breaks become more and more frequent.

I never have a complete break from gaming, but I usually go through phases where I'll touch nothing apart from my pc for 6 months then 6 months later I'll only play consoles with minimum pc useage. Considering I've just spent £2000 upgrading I think I'll be sticking with the pc at least till the PS4 and Xbox One :)

That or tell the missus the controller is really connected to the PC :p

Depends a bit how one defines break:

-Officially deciding I'm "taking a break" - never.
-Cold turkey i.e. no gaming at all - probably about a month around the time I got married and went on honeymoon etc
-Basically not playing aside from maybe the odd bit here and there - something similar I would guess maybe a couple of months 5 years ago when dealing with some serious personal issues
-Not playing competitively i.e. my main online game, I took a 3 year break from Quakeworld from 2006-2009 again due to some serious upheavals in my personal life

Not gaming has never been something I've done consciously out of choice, it is just due to lack of time and other commitments/distractions.

I have gone years between playing and been quite happy, but at the moment it is sadly one of the only things I can do without causing large amounts of pain for reasonable periods, so am a little dependent on it :S

Funnily enough on that subject, when we broke up a year and a half ago one of her reasons was that gaming wasn't a hobby for me it became a life style and I cared more for my pc than I did her. Not far off to be fair to her though ;)

The only break ive taken was from WoW and since around febuary this year I think.

I've gone casual atm playing League of Legends mainly, but as soon as CoD Ghosts and BF4 come out I'm going to try and "get good" at FPS multiplayer agian :-)
