Longest journey 2 help

Hi all.

Has anyone played The Longest Journey: Dreamfall? Loving it so far with its great atmosphere and story. Anyway I'm stuck on something which is probably really easy:

Here is where I’m stuck (without spoilers) When you travel to the us and have to get into the building via the backyard with the guard dog. Just how do you do it? I've picked up the axe from the shed, but that doesn't work on the door. What am I missing?

Did you get the lock pick from the girl who ows that shop just down from where you live? Can't remember her name..

Yeah from the chinese guy, sorted it now.
I needed to break the window at the side, not the door.
