Please admins, dont move this into Movie I watched last night thread it might get over looked over there I think and skimmed over? Would prefer some of the rock fans of Overclockers saw this and commentated on it please if they want to.
I watched it this morning About 1 AM .. but I digress. I feel this is a much more focused thing.
Its about famous rock stars taking advantage of young girl groupies and this stuff has always went on and probably still does and I'm not saying I condone that, what it does feature are a lot of people from my era of growing up I listened to band wise and even met ... I actually met Steven Tyler once, but that story is for another day.
Documentary or whatever it is describes the experiences of young girls getting mixed up in all that craziness .. and it hints but never accuses lots of rock stars like Jimmy Page, David Bowie and more directly ... accuses Steven Tyler, Axl Rose and more of serious sexual abuse ... Oh and Managers like Runaways manager Kim Fowely too.
I actually remember the Runaways from when they crashed on the scene mid 70's, was just a teen lad LOL ... I had no idea of the bigger picture as we had no internet back then LOL, my only first hand experience came from word of mouth or weekly rags like Sounds, NME and Melody Maker ... Oh and there was the Old Grey Whistle Test.
But I bought a few Runaway albums and thought they were cut and recognise they were not THAT great musicians ... their individual band member hits came later, good fun listening for me as a teenager at that time though. Listening and seeing Kim Fox (Fuches) rape description by Kim Fowely on the NY eve of their first ever show and fellow Female band members being invited to witness it is quite shocking.
The Doc goes onto describe Axl Roses sexual abuse by a former Playboy model and I do honestly believe her, she's honest enough to say it was consensual though, but these days would be considered rape.
And finally Steven Tyler ... because I have actually met him and the young girl he took under his wing, he made her his legal charge ... took her away from his mother basically and then when she eventually got pregnant by him he co-herced her into abortion as he was seeing another young girl ... Stephen was with her at the abortion though and full of remorse, but after that, she was dumped by stevens lawyers ,... shocking Poor Woman seems to have recovered from all that and is doing fine, painting, seems tranquil ... but probably mentally scarred forever.
