I have had this problem for a while and a mate is having he same problem i have 2 harddisks in my pc he only has 1 but when ever we are wanting to change the drive letter in a program to save or to retrieve the system hangs for about 1 min or longer and says program has stopped responding. Then it catches up and will allow us to save does anyone know what causes this and how we can speed it up.

You could try disconnecting the CD-ROM, we had a similar problem with a PC at work caused by a faulty CD-ROM.
