Look what I found!

Ive got a black 0420 http://www.yeongyang.com/yy-0420-0430.htm

And no you cant have it :p

woah, big brother case there!

I had a great stroke of inspiration today, whilst browsing the thermal testing charts on the YY website (nice of them to publish them!) I saw a great idea for a rear blowhole on my Borg, I had no idea fans could be made to fit o nthat back panel, well just!

http://www.yycase.com/report/Thermal-report-0221(0803-04).pdf

have never come across that before, but will certainly be handy getting rid of CPU heat, have you done similar/any mods to your 0420?

To be honest ive not modded anything really apart from taking out the metal bracket behind the dual fan intakes at the front.

If i get some time this weekend ill try to take some pics. When i get some time and a few quid spare i was planning on a full stripdown and black paintjob inside just to make it more tidy.

For heat dissipation its THE best case ive ever had, and ive had a fair few big and small. I have 2 large and 1 large and one medium fans at the front and back respectively and have them all at low speed using a baybus controller. The cpu and vortexx neo are also controlled this way.

I can have them ALL on slow even with the system under full load for hours and the internal case temp never goes more than 6 or 7 degrees above room temp, the airflow in there is just fantastic. Its also almost silent! :p

I'll make up a build thread when I actually order components for it, but annoyingly todays plans of adding 2 decent sized exhausts to it were scuppered because I cant find the jigsaw :(

Going to add a 92MM and 80MM exhaust should keep the CPU nice and cool, and help the PSU expel that hot air

I found an old pic to show you inside the mainboard part of the case.

Ill get some more when i find the recharger for my camera, the pc is due its monthly clean out anyway ( we have 2 dogs so lots of dust! ).

And those with sharp eyes will notice the hideous bodge job of a hole i had to cut in the motherboard tray for my old system. I used a drill to drill out the basic shape of the hole and a pair of tin snips to cut it out, leaving horrible jagged edges everywhere ( hence the plastic tubing cut and stuck on to stop cables getting snagged. )

The case is double thickness solid steel construction so my dremel simply couldnt cut it.

When i get round to spraying the insides black i am going to stip down and get a lad at a local car body shop i know to lazer cut it for me so its nice and tidy. One version of the case did actually come with that hole pre-cut but mine didnt :(

My old system was all IDE and i didnt have a modular power supply so i needed all that hole just for routing cables!! now ive gone to a new all sata system i dont even need a hole anymore, the pre cut ones suffice!

looks good, see whatya mean about the jaggered adges like:p im sure it'll be reet when it's all sorted.
You gonna spray the insides black or out?

yes when i get the time and money my plan is to strip it down and get my mate to cut the hole out properly and then spray the whole of the metal parts black. The outside is black already and the plastic front is also. I mulled water cooling when i built this new system but it simply doesnt need water.

Its fast and very VERY quiet due to the space in the case helping the airflow. I will get some more pics on later today when i open her up for a clean so you can see how the daddy-borg is put together.

You can still get hold of this case ( now and again ) on the bay and a few other places for under £150 if you look.

!

nice man, I'm liking it! But first question:your GFX card plus into the case floor? WTF?!?!

I can see that case already is a lot better than the baby borg (for modding/hard out use) well small things like actually having a bit of room above the mobo and the top of the case, I have 25MM of space betweenthe top of the mobo and the case roof (not much) Yours being slightly wider too, so you can fit grown up 'tall' heatsinks

And where you had to cut that hole in the mobo tray, I'd hazard a guess that if you perhaps bought a later model it would already have that hole cut, the review sites show my case as having one single square hole in pretty much the same place you've cut yours, but my model actually has 2 hole there (another above) so loads of room for routing those old school IDE FDD cables!

Have you got a window on your case side then? If you're going to be painting it black inside?

I'm liking it man... lots!

The psu cable for the gfx card is held by a black tie wrap with one of those plastic sticky things, the rest of the cable can be seen heading round the back via the small slit where the sata cables go ;)

And yeah some later models had the big hole pre cut, mine didnt sadly.

The heatsink ( noctua ) only just fits. When you put the side of the case on there is about a 1cm gap left.
