Look what i just bought

I sacked off my xfx 7970 a few weeks ago in a fit of rage and bought an xbox 360 and GTA V.
What occurred to me after a week or so was, console gaming sucks and XBL is populated by mostly 12 year old douche bags.
So in another fit of rage I sold my 360 and bought this today, for the sum of £227.75

The Asus HD 7970 Direct CU II TOP.

My first impression was its nicely packaged but my second impression was "**** me its really fat", 3 pci-e slots wide!!! I had no idea it was that big and my third impression was "**** me its got a back plate!!!"


Anyway im sure youre all familiar with it but im very impressed so far, here are some pics anyway, I just cant wait to get in from work at 2pm and slap it in the pc to have a muck around with it.

So any of you guys running one of these at the moment? what can I expect from this card in terms of gaming and benching?

Great choice of card mate, I certainly don't think you'll be dissapointed. I'm pretty sure that's the same card as a friends got, and he's more than happy with his. You'll have to let us know your thoughts once you get back home and get it installed

Got the same recently (card not breakfast) and I'm very happy with it, can't believe how quiet it is!!! Playing BF3 on ultra I can't distinguish it from my Noctua cooler, and my case has a grill next to the card.

Got the same card last week excellent quality really quiet but voltage locked FTL mines running at 1135 CPU 1600 mem on locked volts need to buy a rog mobo with VGA Hotwire or flash the bios to take it further

Hope they have improved the heatsink and fans on the Asus Direct CUII models by now. When I had one, I had lots of heat and noise for not much benefit. (Was almost like a stock fan!).

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is rated as pretty much the top cooler for 7950/7970 cards in terms of minimum heat and minimum noise for a stock non reference cooler. I mean it should be, it's a beast!
