Can someone, with a decent ear for music editing, give me a decent spec for the following.

CPU - i7 cpu if possible for the 8 threads to help with editing
HD's - 500gig+ size SSD and 1TB storage - I need big SSD for audio software as the install for audio only, is over 250+gig minimum.
COOLER - quiet cooler - may not be OCing the cpu but need one that is quiet for obvious reasons being a music build the pc needs to be quiet (recording purposes) I don't fancy the whiney stock cooler.
MOBO - Decent motherboard that has plenty of USB2 and 3 slots and possibly have a Ti Firewire slot?(although not essential)
PSU - need a decent gold rated PSU as there will be a few things running off it Focusrite Saffire PRO 26, etc - Possibly 750 or 850W??
RAM - need 16 gig of quick RAM that wouldn't take too much tweaking if I did overclock the CPU
GRAPHICS - nothing special needed - enough to output to a 27" screen. Perhaps a low end r7 series or a 740 ?? I'll take advice on that :)
CASE - not a huge tower, nor a small form factor, but nothing too "vulgar" looking either. Enough to take all the components easily enough with as sleek a look as possible. Mid Tower perhaps?
MONITOR - Decent widescreen - It won't be for gaming at all but needs to be wide screen to run audio software screens.
DVD/CD burner - Anything basic but will last a while as I'll be burning music to cd's quite a bit.

I don't need a OS, Keyboard or Mouse

Stuff being used on the pc will be REAPER as my Digital Audio Workstation, KONTACT as my audio sampler, KOMPLETE/GUITAR RIG for guitar amp simulators and EZDrummer for digital drums.

Budget around 1000 Possibly going up to 1200 AT A PUSH. I'd prefer to keep things as low as I can and with it not having an expensive GPU I need to keep costs down.

Thanks for the help in advance :)

Gonna have to copy and paste links as using ie 8 at work lol:

I can vouch for the PSU and the Phanteks cooler: That cpu cooler is the quietest cooler ive ever used. It happily cools my i7 3770k passively at idle upto 50c before the cooler fans come on!

You wont a gpu in this rig really, but if you want one, grab any aftermarket cooled 750ti; the asus ive heard is silent.

Wann kepp costs down? knock back the monitor to std 1080p and get a cheaper case, and maybe a smaller SSD but with the sounds of it you need the storage.

TBH, there's probably better deals and packages with better aestetics that will be given to you once the regulars see this thread... but this is some idea of what I'd be shooting for.

Thanks for that :)

I need the huge SSD as 400+gig alone is for audio library, samples library and audio software installation. Then I need the OS put on as well as some other software so I need the 500gig SSD.

Stulid, thanks for that, getting there for sure. Case isn't what I like tbh. No offence.

I prefer a sleeker looking mid tower type case.

Also the 750Ti might even be overkill. This pc won't ever be used for anything other than audio work so I dunno if that's worth £100 for a gpu?

Platinum PSU might be overkill too. A decent gold standard would be sufficient I think. It's all about chipping away at cost while still having a great machine.

Passive GPU would be good. Not sure what options there are these days. I have several older ones in media centres etc.

I didn't include a gpu in my build, if not doing any gaming you will be fine with intel's IGP. you wont have tonnes of heat to deal with in your case without a gpu. One 120mm or 140mm exhaust will be fine. If you want silence, go with 140mm exhaust.

A Phanteks PH-TC14PE will not clear the tall height of Kingston Beast RAM.

A Phanteks PH-TC14PE will not fit inside a Lian Li PC-A55A which has a maximum cooler clearance of 150mm, less if there is dampening foam on the panels.

The Noctua I suggest is the quietest cooler that has ever passed through my hands, it also has 100% RAM compatibility so fits all size dimms.

Bundles are the way forward

With the sound issue;

Seeing as the cooler's provided will be fairly quiet (whatever spec you go for), the CPU on it's own won't have all that much heat output in comparison to a CPU and a GPU - you should be fine. At 80% I'd expect the CPU fan to be very quiet, I'd leave the chassis fans at 65% maximum and you should have a quiet system altogether . Smaller systems can be louder generally due to you having the need for more fans through the restricted air flow of smaller cases (not always the case however). Sound deadening can only go so far, fan control is a must :)

You could look at picking up a firewire card if you wanted also, I don't believe they are all that expensive

Spend some time setting your fans up whatever case you go for, speedfan I find is excellent and I think some others can recommend you some other programs also
