Basically been a pay as you go **** for a long while, using terrible phones for a long long time (current is Samsung D500). Now I figure is the time to get started on a contract phone.

Reading plenty of other threads it seems obvious that the front runners are the Nokia N95 and Iphone. However im a dirty student and don't fancy getting involved in a 35+ a month contract.

Been looking about http://www.mobile-phones-uk.org.uk at phone reviews and current deals and I'll most likely want to go for O2 400/600 for either 12 or 18months. 18 generally being better? (it seems slightly better in terms of like a pound saving per month but is this really much better than 12month contracts in long term benefits?)

Phone's i've been looking at have been the LG Viewty / Samsung G800 / Nokia N81. These generally work out around 20-25 a month, a range I wouldn't really want to go over.

In terms of my needs i've only really used a phone for texting and calling! An additional features are a bonus but what do people find they always need/look for in a new phone? Want a decent phone I won't be dying for my contract to end with!

Cheers for any help

*Just noticed the N81's camera is only 2Meg, im guessing this is far worse quality than the other's 5Meg cameras? Liked the look of that phone :(

Hello

I as a previous owner of a N95(lost when i drove off with it on my car roof..dont ask )

I can recommend it...If you dont mind waiting a couple of months the N96 is due out in July ..so the N95 would drop on price plans :)

Is it always better to go into a store and haggle a bit for a better deal? Im looking at a G800 for £20 a month for 12 months with 400 free minutes and 500 free texts on a random phone website.
