Hi there,

I am new here but I have spent my first few posts replying to Cavallino regarding his Corsair HX750 PSU.

Basically I am looking for a PSU to go with my new build (I am building a spec around an Asus P6T SE with a single Asus 5770 (for the moment at least!), i7 920, OCZ Gold RAM (on "this week only" at the moment), 1tb Sammy F3 and a nice LG DVD-RW), I am using my old case (aOpen A700) until I can do a "second phase" with a new enclosure and a nice new screen to go with it mid / late next year.

I was originally looking at the Corsair HX 750 / 650 PSU but was slightly put off by the amount of "coil whine" posts that seem to accompany the PSU on the Corsair help forums. According to the advice on their forum I could try fiddling with the Mobo settings to get the CPU to (apologies for the non-technical term)t work at "full pace" all the time, apparently this seems to solve the whine / noise for a few people but I really don't want to have to do this as I shouldn't have to do it.

I have narrowed my search down to 3 PSU's, The 650 / 750 Corsair HX (count as one due to brand), The Enermax Pro82+ and the Antec Signature Series 650.

It would be great if you could give me some input on the PSU to go for, I really don't want to get a noisy unit but I do want something that will last me for quite a while. Budget is around £80-100 FWIW

I have been doing a little more reading and it looks like the Enermax is the quietest of the bunch (but I can't get it from OC!) followed closely by the Antec. I honestly would love one of the Corsairs (due to the modular build) but I must admit to having seconds thoughts after doing some searching online. I am aware of the 7yr warranty (I believe Enermax has a 3yr [goes to UK service centre] and Antec 5yr) length which is really impressive for a PSU.

Look forward to your thoughts

Kindest Regards,
Harv :)
