I only game at 1280x1024 would it be worth picking one of these up or maybe looking out for a decent second hand 8800gt/gts/gtx

Well for the price i would get the 4850. 1280*1024 should be fine for all the cards up there but the 4850 will give you the headroom for applying all the AA and AF while keeping the experience smooth.

Ordered a Saphire 4850 from another place and guess what City Link have struck again, payed for Today delivery from 7.30-12.00 and ive had a email saying it looks like its going to be tomorrow, great when i took a day of specially for it.

City Link are shoddy, had quite a few late (and damaged) parcels from them in the past.

Give them hell.

They are terrible. I get most of my deliveries to my parents nowadays as they are in often during the day but city link have done this twice to me (one of them recent) which is why if I know they are the courier, will always look elsewhere.

OH well they managed to do it again, it wasn't put through for delivery today from the branch, all this concidering i was meant to get it yesterday originally, what the hell is going on with this company ?, the chap i just spoke too said he will put it through now for early morning delivery tmz, total joke imo.

I agree with what you are saying in General about City-Link but looking at the situation closely it's more to do with the drivers they hire. In the past I would go out of my way to avoid using City-Link so I fully understand what pain your are going through but now I have really lucked out as Citylink hired an amazing Polish driver called Matt who delivers in my area.

Got to know him well and hes even got my mobile so he calls before he comes just to make sure I'm in!

So have a chat with the guy from Citylink who drops your package next time and see if it's his normal route etc.

Jabbs: Enjoy your card when it arrives! :)

Totally agree, depends on driver. Last time for me, the expected day I got told the van broke down, next day (Friday) it never arrived and I got told the driver was too busy and didn't manage to deliver all his packages!

I drove to the depot on Saturday to pick it up instead as they refused to do a Saturday delivery.

Got me money back for the delivery but not the point really.

Its all shabby really god knows why these companies use City Link, what makes me laugh is i told the chap on the phone what had happened and he said this happens a lot and its alway are fault, i thought

Here Jabbs, this is something for you to look at until your delivery guy shows up :)

in the meantime maybe you can do a few more benchies with your old card? . . . a fresh set of results to compare once you get your new HD4850 installed! :)

My old card a x1800xt don't really need benchmarking to show its pants, btw LOL @ post about card made me chuckle on a crap day.

The chap thats dealing with it has taken my number and said he call me back later on today(this was like 12.30ish when i phoned) can't say am too hopefull he will sort it all out and get it delivered tmz to me, my card is sitting in Newcastle depot he said, wonder if they using it as a football or somet.

On that topic, the very last package I received from City Link was torn up and damaged. I told the guy I wouldn't sign it until I unwrapped it all and could verify the contents were safe, and he just said he'd write a note for me that would cover me if they weren't but was in a rush so couldn't wait for me to unpack everything.

Turns out everything was ok, but some of the boxes were bent up in the edges, were it something more fragile, it could have been damaged.

Seriously, City Link are terrible. Pay the extra and go Parcelforce or DHL.

EDIT: The girl on the front of the Sapphire 4850 box is so much hotter than the one on the Sapphire 4870 one.

Jabbs: last time I was in your situation (8800GT launch) I was able to travel to the local depot and collect the package, just had to wait till after 6:00pm so that the driver had returned.

Aren't you tempted to go collect it, weekend ahead and all?

The package was miss sorted she said so its ended up at the Newcastle branch i live in the west midlands/Rugeley so thats what 150 miles ish ? too far to walk lol.
