looking at a new tv..is hd worth it?

hi peeps,
i dont know if this has been asked before(and if it has feel free to tie me up and lash me.....oooooh there again
but....is hd tv worth it at the moment????
my telly is looking prehistoric and is on its way out so im looking at a new un and have seen plenty of nice hdtv's to kill the credit card on.is the hd gadgets/dvd films etc increasing or is it all a bit whan at the moment? and worth waiting for the price to go down?
any help appreciated folks....go on..convince me

hi,
yep was looking at 32"and beyond for tv screen size,well it sounds like it'll be a worthwhile purchase so i'll have a butchers at whats available
