Been looking at getting a Volvo Xc60 and the engine version I'm after has 250bhp.
Is that adequate for this size car?
I wont be towing, but also wouldn't want something that takes 3 hours to get up to 70mph

I've only ever had Golf size cars, so I wouldn't know if the size/weight makes much difference.

I'm sure it will be more than adequate, we've gone from a M135i (304bhp) to a X1 23i (203bhp) and while it's a bigger car and doesn't feel as manic as the 135 it's still got more than sufficient poke to get places I wanna go rapid enough

Yes more than adequate. What car you coming from?

Thats good to know. They only one they had at the dealers was a 350hp which we tried to make sure the other half would get on with driving something bigger.

She has a Mini Cooper S at the mo, so a bit different, and before that, an S3

Guess you don't tend to buy an XC60 if your sole aim is speed, although the plug in hybrid does have a bit of poke. But for everyday needs 250hp should be more than enough

For a larger vehicle torque will often make a big difference to the experience - my pickup is over 2 tons with 230bhp but 550nm peak torque and doesn't feel slow at all.

Is it the T5? I previously had a V60 with the polestar remap and it was plenty quick enough. 6 point something to 60 but it was going from 30-70 that it really shone.
