Looking at bose soundtouch 20 ?

So i have an old bose dock that i have converted to Bluetooth. Im now looking to buy a new one with a budget of about £400. I like the look of the bose soundtouch 20. Im not "clued up" with audio products so looking for advise. I really like the bass on bose stuff so thats quite inportant. Other must haves are

Under 5kg as it travels on holiday every year when we get a villa.
Have enough punch for garden bbq evenings / plenty of bass
Be under £400
Ideally have ability to manage spotify on its own.
Look visually apealing.

Any one suggest an alternative to the bose? Heard sonos is ok but never tried it.

I can't really comment on other brands other then the ones you mentioned and i have to admit to being a bit of a Bose fan, but i have worked in retail selling these 2 products for a number of years. I have owned Play 1 Sonos and Bose SoundTouch speakers. Personally i prefer the sound of the Bose SoundTouch range but i'd advise you to make your own choice here.

I use Spotify for 99% of my music listening other than the odd radio station. For me the Bose systems excel here.

They support Spotify in there app which is similar to Sonos this works fine but neither of these are quite as good and as intuitive as going directly through the Spotify app itself.

The Bose supports "spotify connect" which means you can Wifi using the Spotify app directly if you prefer where as the Sonos you have to use there in app scaled down version of spotify.

Other things i love are 6 presets which can be set as Spotify playlists or favourite artists.

Finally the Bose has bluetooth so offers more flexibility for moving away from the home and doesn't actually need Wifi at all to work.

cheers buddy, Seems the bose offers more features. I have one of the original sound docks 6+ years old and it still sounds as good as the day i got it. its travelled round the world with me too surviving airlines baggage handlers so really impressed.

will pop down to good old John Lewis for a listen on both.
