Hey guys

The time has come where I want to do my first watercooling build. I know absolutely nothing about watercooling so i need some help! I want to build in the define S case and i want to do something along the lines of this:

I am going to get a 4690k or a 4790k (Have not decided yet) with a MSI gaming 5 motherboard. I will only have 1 GPU but looking to do crossfire in the future. I am going to buy a 390 as well but i cannot fine any waterblocks for them.

If someone could please say what i need that would be a great help

Thanks

Will

Hi Will,

I'm actually doing my first loop soon myself so I'm not the best resource on this subject, but I have done a lot of research about my own loop.

I agree the loop in that picture is really nice looking. Here's some things to bear in mind from looking at it:

1. It's a hard-tubed build which I believe is more difficult to work with (though it looks like there are no bends).

2. Pretty much all of his fittings that I can see are 90 or 45 degree bitspower fittings which will really add up in terms of cost. His cards look to be some special water/air cooled cards (which you won't have). You can do most of the loop with just regular fittings which are cheaper.

3. Aside from that it looks like his loop is going like this (and thus all the parts you'd need are): Res > Pump > GPU2 > GPU1 > Mosfet > CPU > 360 rad > 240 rad > Res

Hope that helps a bit at least!

Edit:

With regards to blocking up a 390, it may be possible depending on which manufacturer you use. You can use EK's configurator to find whether any of their blocks are compatible (some 290x blocks work on 390s).

That's found here: http://configurator.ekwb.com/

You can also check the compatibility lists of AMD blocks in their shop e.g. this one which supports some 390 cards: https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-fc-r9-290x-acetal-rev-2-0
