Due to financial measures, and technical difficulties, I'm selling my BFG 8800GTX with waterblock (the first one, not the newest), on ebay.

Now, which would be better, an 8800GTS, or an 8600GTX? Ie. Value 4 Money!

Cheers :D

how much is the GTX worth now?

second hand, not a lot.
would be a bad idea to sell it now since its gonna be hard to get any where near retail value so if the op is short on cash its best to sell up and go for something really cheapo like a 8600gt since going to a 8800gts will not leave much change in the pocket.

id stick with the gtx especially since the new games comming out will slap the gtx around some. :p

keep the 8800gtx m8 and find summit else to sell, hunt the house hi and lo for antiques. when u have a card that good id be doing my best to hold on to it

going by the OP's sig its probably better to ring around for different car insurance companies quotes :p
I can't belive someone is paying £3500 a year for car insurance for a £4000 car which is just a Honda Prelude :p

At least get a ferrari or something if your willing to pay that almount of money for car insurance.

I doubt his quote is actually 3.5k, thats more likely to be the total cost after paying in instalments due to interest payments :)

lol either way its a total rinser. my trade policy cots less than half as much as much as what he is paying yet i get to drive any car.
ahh, but he could be a first time driver and insurance companies do tend to slap them around for cash :p

just get an x1950 pro/XT, they'll last ages yet as theres no games to play, and nothings coming for months yet, apart from Bioshock in about 3x weeks, but even the pro/XT will cut through that fine so you may as well save a bit more cash, as the big hitters are not coming till November onwards, and the new cards are coming then to, so you could pick up a cheap 8800 then.

I've just replaced me 8800gts 640mb with an x1900xtx 512mb and while granted its not as fast/ powerful, it plays COH very smoothly with good framerates (minimum I've seen so far with it is about 40ish) at 1680 x 1050, 2 x AA, everything in game maxed out except for "model detail" taken down a notch or two. Very impressed with this cards performance so far and cost under £100 s/h.

Why did you feel the need to downgrade?

Basically because the 8800gts wasn't getting the useage I thought it would, and I needed to raise a bit of cash to fuel me son's xbox 360 fund. Also theres nowt out atm that I feel the x1900xtx can't handle, there maybe a few exceptions, but I haven't come accross them yet. Plus I tend not game with high levels of AA due to running at the res stated earlier, and 8 x AF is good enough for me.
When summat comes along that needs some more grunt to run smoothly, I'll replace the x1900xtx, but until then its doing just fine. :)

Ah I see, it'll do good untill 9800 series anyway ;), you sold the 8800GTS just to fund your son's Xbox360 fund? Now thats good, I cant see my dad doing something like that such as selling something like such as the 37" TV for my 9800 and portugal spending money fund :p
