looking at getting a naked bike, but im on a ristricted licence, what should i look for?

hey guys,

i now have my A2 restricted licence, and im not a fan of the sport bikes riding position.

i currently have a 2009 KX250F that i ride now and again, i like my single cylinder 250F but ive heard single cylinder bikes are not recommended for road use.

i have around £3500-4000 for a bike, BUT only if its a keeper for a long time.

i dont want anything bigger than a 800cc as it simply wont be needed.

im a fan of Yamaha road bikes so will look at those first, thanks guys
 
i like the xj6-n, i like the idea of a 660cc single cylinder tho :D would sound like my motocross bike but more beefy lol, but im not a fan of its looks, its very round/bubbly

whats the pros and cons with single cylinders, parallel twins, triples and in-line 4's?
 
ive looked at the MT-03 again and its growing on me! plus its a good price.

now another thing im worried about is security, i keep my MX bike at work so its always locked up and safe, but i will have to keep the bike in my shed with chains etc.

can i get a ground anchor fitted in my shed if i cut a section out of the floor for it?

also i will like a alarm and chain, so what is the best? no budget for this, i want the best you can get! :D
 
I really really like the suzuki GSR 750, good insurance quotes, it's a de-tuned GSXR750 plus it looks amazing! Shame they are around £5000 used
 
im 20 at the moment, and no, have to be on a restricted licence for two years after passing you test, unless you are 24 you can get a direct access to any bike :(

ive not long got my licence so thats why im prepared to get a big bike (looks like a 2012 GSR750 atm) and have it restricted then as soon as it gets lifted, open it up!

im going to view a GSR750 next weekend, its not the colour i want but i will get a idea on how it feels etc
 
its a shame really

if i test ride the bike, has the dealer got it fit a restriction kit on it before i can ride it?
that way i know what to expect from it without riding it at its full potential, then when my A2 is lifted i can then have fun for more as the bike will be faster and more powerful
 
lol my KX250F on the road! i would pin it everywhere :D

but seriously, its an animal, it just loves to lift up in every gear, but all MX bikes are like that
yeh i may just do that, can you recommend some 125's? 4T would be better (cba with 2T oil now lol)
 
got an update guys.

i had a sit on my dads friends 2000 model yamaha R6... i know its a sports bike but i love it!

ALSO, im going to be riding a Cagiva Mito EVO II, he is selling it ro me for £500! all i needs is the carb removing and cleaning out, a new exhaust and brake pads, i think it might need tyres, it has not been used for 3 years.

so yeh, riding the mito for a year to get 1 NCB then get a 1998-2001 R6 and ride that restricted to 33bhp for a year then release it to its full POWARRRR! :D

what do you guys think?
 
LOL! i wont be revving the nuts of it dont worry, ive been told they can be temperamental if not looked after well, like i say, its to get my 1st years NCB then shall be going to YAMAHA! ;)
 
its £500, ive also seen the fetch abit when in good nick, so will be deffo trading it in for a R6 as soon as a year passes by.

thing is, im a sucker for buying bikes that need work, i love working on bikes and they are quite abit cheaper.

ill take care of the mito and keep on top of maintenance, ive seen they they are fragile so i will give it a easy life :)
